We have come to the end of yet another year where our students have strived to reach their personal best. All grades were involved in a number of activities, which helped to enhance their literacy skills and equipping them for the following year. This term, year 7 focused on drama where they were exposed to a number of Shakespearean and contemporary texts to familiarise them with dramatic techniques. Year 8 focused on deconstructing Tim Burton's version of 'Alice in Wonderland', where they had to compare the film to the original novel. Year 9 were exposed to dystopian genre through 'The Matrix' and compared it to 'The Gladiator', where the focus was on the unwilling hero archetype. Finally, year 10 deconstructed the picture book 'The Red Tree', by Shaun Tan and analysed Wilfred Owen's war poetry.
All the classes seemed to enjoy the content they were studying and worked hard to prepare for their yearly exams. Both Mr Ozan and Miss Elif wish our parents and students a wonderful break and look forward to seeing you all in 2020.
